Living for Flowers – Let the Blooms Begin - Rhode Island Real Estate .

Thanks to a mentor and blogging associate, Katerina GassettI am being pushed a bit to ‘peel the onion’ about my other passions.

Ginny Lacey Gorman's other passion besides real estate

Blooms & more blooms

Those who know me know I live and breathe my calling of Rhode Island real estate. It is the want to serve and be of service to qualified buyers and Rhode Island sellers (conventional or short sales) that exhilarates me everyday.  I just love looking at houses!

But I have other sides to me especially regarding in the area of flowers – le fleurs of Rhode Island so to speak…

If you have read my profile you will know that besides my corporate job in the past that I also owned and operated an organic farm in Kingston RI.  Every Saturday for 13 years I took my exotic annuals and perennials to the South Kingstown Farmers Market to sell them and share my knowledge with all.  It truly was my passion and my gardens were amazingI have been told.

But I did not start out with lots of flowers at the market ...no I made fresh fruit(apple, peach, plum, etc.) tortes which were very much in demand.  I would bake and bring them to farmers market but that became grueling.  My plant business gave me more satisfaction so it escalated and fruit tortes were done only by special order.

Although I ran a minor plant business, it was the evenings, early mornings and the rest of weekends that consumed my time with the growing, propagating and harvesting of the various plants and flowers.

I did have a living for flowers and the color palettes of blooms on my acreage would stop traffic at times.   I had exotic flowers that were still unheard of such as calibrachoas and striped cannas which are now found everywhere at garden centers.  I like to say that I introduced many of these plants into the homes of other avid RI gardeners that pushed the garden centers to start ordering these unusual varieties of flowers for the masses!

I had over 8 acres of land so a living for flowers took over my piece of Rhode Island real estate.   Still today it is an essential part of my being in real estate.  My eye for curb appeal and scene placement does help my clients in staging their homes to sell.  Plus I always share plants with my clients!

Now I have a small lot that is overflowing in blooms from March through November every year.  Yes, a much smaller scale of flower passions exist because my time is well spent doing another thing I love.. real estate.  If you need assistance with plant growing or real estate, I would be happy to help.  Give me a call at 401-529-7849….the North Kingstown Realtor. Just as I suspected...beautiful flowers in this post. It is great to read about the "person" instead of only the "Realtor®" all the time. Thanks...

Hi Ginny,

Good to see you have a "GREEN THUMB".

Growing flowers has to be a nice change of pace for you from the Real Estate Rat Race.

Yes, my onion probably needs some peeling, too. Not sure I have the guts. But, apparently in addition to flowers and baking, you also know a tad of French???

Ginny, that is a beautiful passion to have...I bet you have a fresh flower vase in your house all the time. And your ability as a Realtor to bring your flowers into a buyers home, is another great feature. Make me think with our family in the pizzeria business, a delvered dinner on the eve of a closing could be a welcome thought as well.

Hi Ginny,

Wow, I need to start paying better attention. I've been reading your blog for a while now, but I didn't know you owned an organic farm! You seem to have a real knack with flowers, and those tortes sound absolutely tempting! Thanks for sharing more about your passions, it's great to read a little more about your other interests. That said, keep being the best North Kingstown short sale agent and I wish you all the best!

Ginny- I love that you have such a great green thumb!  I remember really getting into flowers and gardening when I was in grad school.  I found it relaxing.  Lately I've been into orchids!  Isn't it fun learning about all of the different layers that our AR friends have!
