A Disney Education - Part Two

Okey.... so I've done my humor bit about my trip to Disney (see it here).... but I really do have some REAL advice if you're planning a trip to the Magic Kingdom....

10. Get to the parks when they open.  The lines are shorter and you can ride the popular rides a few times with short lines.

9. If you stay off of the resorts.... route 192 east is better than 192 west in terms of traffic.  When the parks let out at night... 192 west gets backed up.

8. Buy your souveniers for your kids before you go.  They are more expensive AT the parks than at the mall.

7. If your kids like the characters (and aren't terrified by them) buy an autograph book before you go and go character hunting at the park.

6. I you plan to get a fast pass for the more popular rides, be aware that they do run out.  "Soaring" ran out at about 1 o'clock when we were at Epcot.

5. Downtown Disney is good to go to on a day that you don't want to go to the parks.  They have a huge Lego store and other fun stores to browse.

4. We bought 10 day tickets that never expire when my daughter was 4.  You buy the tickets at the price point for the age of the child, however, they never expire.  We bought them four years ago and use about 2 every other year.  So our trip this past year was at prices of four years ago.  Plus, when we bought them, our daughter was four.... she's now 8.... but is still using the ticket (and ticket price) of a four year old.

3. Remember that you are there on vacation and to let the kids have a good time.  They will get cranky....try to stay happy!  It IS the happiest place on earth!

2. Plan your day.  Don't go without knowing what rides you want to ride and which you are okay to miss.

1. Buy "The Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World" by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa.  Buy this before you go and make sure to flip through it.  The feature we liked the best was the recommended day plans.  Tells you which rides you should ride and in what order to have the shortest line and most fun.

Great advice Martin. We usually stay at Fort Wilderness, you get in to the park an hour earlier and can take the boat at Epcot back to the campground.

Martin, great post. It was funny as I was reading this that it matched our trips to disney. When we lived in Ft Myers, we would go to Disney twice a year. Always remember, Disney is not just for the little people.

Great tips Martin.  We used the "unofficial guide" when we were there a few years ago, and it worked!  We had a stress free time.

Debbie - We love camping.  Maybe we'll try that one of these years.  We do think it would be pretty neat to be able to get into the parks an hour earlier.

Danny - Nope.  Us big kids like it too!

BLR - They were MY Mickey Ears!!!!

Peggy - It's amazing how it really does make it stress-less.  (Not quite sure about stress - FREE)
