If you're blogging and in Real Estate, you know of, and have read the work of Seth Godin (www.sethgodin.com). Right?
Well, we’ll talk about him in just a moment.
For now, Valeria Maltoni at Conversation Agent discusses some statistics worth mentioning over at her home blog: www.ConversationAgent.com
As you can see be the statistics, advertising online in 2008 and beyond is definitely poised for a jump in advertising dollars spent. Though the statistic covers statistics for large corporate clients and dollars spent, it's still applicable to all of us (Real Estate Agents and Loan Officers alike).
How many of us have jumped on-board the blogging bandwagon as a marketing medium by which to increase our revenue? The answer is many!
Unfortunately, many consider blogging the answer to our lead generation efforts! The idea being: (1) you register your profile and set up your domain, (2) your write a blog post, and (3) the leads pour in until you finally close out on some escrows! Life goes on and you party like a Rock Star! Well, this just ain't so!
Blogging is a commitment and it takes time and research! But what should be noted most importantly, is that it's just another forum in which we can converse with individuals; the conversation is what's important. The end goal being: (1) to establish a connection with our reader/prospect online, (2) formulate some sort of continuing/gradual relationship, (3) schedule a meeting (whether by phone or in-person) to sell your product.
Valeria at Conversation Agent phrased it perfectly:
"What social media does is simply allow you to do one thing: communicate. That's it. Social media is not the conversation. It's the room in which you hold the conversation. It still comes down to saying, doing, or producing something valuable for your customer." Seth Godin does an excellent job of explaining how we might accomplish all of this in his book, "Permission Marketing: Turning strangers into friends and friends into customers"
As we move into 2008 and as we're getting our business plans in order, including our plans for our online marketing efforts, I'm going to write a Chapter-by-Chapter Summary of the strategies outlined in Seth Godin's book. What's going to be unique about this summary is that I'm going to outline personal case examples of what seems to work and what doesn't. But I'm not going to publish the Chapter Reviews here! I'm going to email them to those who wish to sign up! And you can...
