If you are looking for fabulous fresh produce and flowers near Catonsville and Ellicott City, be sure to stop by Family Affair Produce at 2302 Frederick Road. At least once a week,we make the short trip down Frederick Road and pull into the small parking lot in front of the building, across from Dimitri’s Restaurant and just a few miles from Treuth’s Butcher. I find that it’s great for my budget and my waistline to shop these great local shops and not be open to all the temptations of chips, the candy and ice cream aisles! FRESH is better!
You know when you stop in A Family Affair, you will really feel like family! You will always get a smile and a big greeting from Tony Poleski, Tony Jr and all the rest of the crew. I love when I walk in that I know I will not only get the freshest produce at competitive prices, I will feel good about shopping locally and supporting area farmers. They even have a display of Otterbein cookies, just in case you are looking for a baked local treat.
Tony is a salesman who loves what he does. In the business for over 25 years, he knows his fruits and vegetables, and takes pride in offering the best in season from local farms. He’ll always give you suggestions and offer a sample of something different. The corn is amazing, as are the strawberries, peaches, apples, plums….well, there is NOTHING here that will disappoint!
They offer a wide variety of jellies and jams, and even crafts handmade by their customers. Tony’s wife or other locals sometimes have baked something special for sale. Each item is better than the last! Be sure to try the pickles by the register, they are some of the best I have ever tasted!
The hanging baskets, flowers and vegetable plants are sure to please. You’ll love the variety and the folks there are always happy to offer advice and suggestions!
