Is This House For Rent??? Online Scams - Beware of Them!

Yesterday I held a home open in a nearby community for a fellow Long Realty associate. While it was open, two interested parties arrived with "rental ads" in their hands.
After contacting the listing agent, and she in turn the owner, the whole matter was turned in to our Tech Department at our Long Realty Head Office here in Tucson. The listing agent also contacted the site that published the "rental".
This home, along with photos, MLS description, owner name and address was being publized as a fully-furnished rental for $900 a month.
One of the would-be rentals forwarded me the information he received when he asked for more information on the property.
Remember, Caveat Emptor!
Here's the cut-and-paste: "The house is very much available and it is a large, Beautiful and well maintained immaculate house. Which was formally occupied by me and my family before we left for United kingdom with the US-AID, we left for a volunteer mission for a development program with the aim of developing the people physically and financially as God as directed us. We wanted to put the house up for sale initially but we later changed our mind after we discovered that we wouldn't be spending more than 5 years here in United Kingdom (London).
Presently my lovely wife and i are on the field with US-AID. US-AID as u know works in agriculture, democracy & governance, economic growth, the environment, education, health, global partnerships, and humanitarian assistance in more than 100 countries to provide a better future for all.
US-AID still faces an uncertain future. In many developing countries, HIV/AIDS and health issues are having a dramatic impact on social cohesiveness and economic strength, blocking the very development goals we seek. Virtually all the new democracies in the world today are fragile; others are democracies more in name than substance. Nearly a quarter of the people living in developing countries, or about one billion people, live in absolute poverty.. There are a host of other threats - ranging from terrorism to infectious disease and violent conflict - that challenge us and the developing nations we seek to help.
US-AID efforts to foster world-wide economic growth and increased trade, and tackling cross-border issues such as the spread of HIV/AIDS and trafficking in person to safe the live of peoples from primitive death that claims the souls of younger ages as a result of casual sex gave us transfer to United Kingdom and we will be away for 5 years or more and this is why we are actually renting out house, so if you are interested and will take good care of our house then we will be ready to accept you as our future tenant and family friend.. If you really impress me by taking good care of our house then you will be allowed to stay as long as you wish.
I would need your bio data which i guess is the only thing i can use to randomly access you. I would need information such as:

WHEN DO YOU PLAN MOVING INTO A NEW HOME
Here is the address and concerning wanting to view the house, you could go there and take a look at the building surrounding and neighbourhood but as for the inside, you won’t be able to view it as the keys for the house are here with me. please note you won’t be able to view the internal part of the house because the keys are here with me... but as much as possible i will try send some internal pictures I have of my property.

unfortunately, where there is money,. there are thiefs.
The internet is now the number one method of robbing banks.
Be ward as has been said in the blog
Yes, I have now taken to noting there is an "Owner" rather than "vacant" for just that reason.
Untill MLS systems allow for LARGER watermarking of their online photos, this issue will continue to be a problem....
Hi Cara - We've been hit with a bunch of these just in the last week or so, maybe 8 calls on multiple properties from renters who are checking if it is a scam. You have to wonder how many are falling for it.
Oh my. I get these calls all the time. The only thing people need to take into consideration is, if it's too good to be true it probably is.
I just received this very e-mail on a response for a home for rent. I sent out several inquiries and was in the mode of "gotta get this done" and did not think about scammers. Thankfully my hubby picked up on the possibility of fraud and did some investigating.
