Tucson Tops To Buy REOs – And Other Things To Know About Tucson Today!

Lots of news all around Tucson – some of the highlights that caught my eye and interesting to know about Tucson today:

Tucson’s Electric Power Co. (TEP) has been honored by a national solar-industry group for its solar energy programs.  The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) awarded TEP as the 2012 Investor Owned Utility of the Year. TEP currently has more than 45 megawatts of solar generating capacity, and by the end of 2014, aims to have more than 240 MW of solar generating capacity, enough to meet the annual electric needs of more than 46,000 homes.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced that they are currently accepting applications for deputy sheriff positions.  The application process goes from from June 1, 2012 until June 15, 2012. If you are interested in a law enforcement career this might be a terrific opportunity to do it!

If your kids are into jump roping and want to either learn or do more with some creativity – the Tanque Verde Elementary School is hosting a couple sessions of “Twist It” Jump Rope Camps!  First session starts today – but don’t worry about missing it today – the next session begins June 11-14th and runs from 12:30 until about 2:00pm at Emily Gray Junior High school!

Tucson was named, by RealtyTrac, one of the top cities to buy REO properties.  Although the data was a little outdated, Tucson currently has just under 400 REO properties for sale, the median list price is $114,900 and the average list price is right around $155,000.
