The Williamson's Family Of Car Dealerships Continues To Grow

The Williamson's have added a new dimension to their growing business presence in Uxbridge with the recently completed purchase of Dean Watson Auto Sales (the local Chrysler dealership).

What began in downtown Uxbridge by Alex Williamson as an Imperial Oil gas station back in 1947 has continued to grow, moving from one location to another to accommodate that growth. In the 50's that growth included the acquisition of a Chevrolet, Oldsmobile franchise and the opening of a body shop. In 1972 facilities were once again moved to make room for the newly acquired Pontiac, Buick Franchise.

In 1977 the Chevrolet Oldsmobile franchise and body shop moved to its present site with the Buick Pontiac dealership and the Leasing Company following in 1980. In 1983 Williamsons had grown once again adding the Cadillac to the now complete line of General Motors cars and light trucks.

While he remained active in the business until the mid 90's his sons Sandy and Peter were appointed the Dealers of the Chevrolet Oldsmobile and Buick Pontiac franchises respectively in 1982.

The purchase and renovation of the old Canadian Tire Building and extensive renovation of the north building which housed the Chevrolet Cadillac franchise brought the two dealerships together and they began operating as one franchise with two showrooms. This move included the consolidation of the service operations in a modern facility with a service drive through.

The Williamson's have a long history of supporting local groups and organizations such as the Bonnor Boys splash pad initiative and just recently Alex Williamson was honoured by the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

In honour of his passion for cars and to recognize the generosity of the Williamson family the robotics and automation laboratory, located in the Automotive Centre of Excellence’s (ACE) integrated research and training facility, was named after Alex Williamson
