Cityplace is the downtown area of West Palm Beach Florida. This is where you can go for great night life, walks on the Intracoastal to view the magnificent yachts, eat great food at top notch restaurants, take in a movie, a theatrical performance, visit museums, shop or go to the Improv. It is all here only minutes from Wellington Florida, Royal Palm Beach and Loxahatchee Florida.
Our Friday nights that began with spontaneous trips have turned into a wonderful expected routine for our 5 year old son. He likes the system that fell together quite by accident. Here is Tristan with Daddy on the steps down from the two levels of CityPlace. This is really a fun and upscale atmosphere.
Our evening starts out with taking in a movie at the upscale Muvico theater which we really feel has been nicely kept up and has a lot to offer. They do have a child care center for you parents who want to watch a movie not suitable for your children. There is an arcade, a bar, a dancing area for Salsa and Karioki. and of course the expanded version of snack bars. The chairs are cushiony, wide with arm rests and very comfortable.
Right next door to the Muvico theatre is the Improv where you can enjoy an evening of laughter. You can order drinks and a meal there too. There is a minimum of 2 drinks per person. Since I do not drink, I pay a lot for water! The food is not that great so I would suggest grabbing a bite to eat before you go or after and just get some snacks there to munch on.
Right smack down the stairs from Muvico you can catch a ride on the Diva Duck. This bus tour picks you up here at CityPlace and then drives into the Intracoastal and turns into a boat! It is a great sightseeing tour of the Rich and Famous homes in Palm Beach and the JFK Bomb Shelter. The tour is also a great eco adventure where you will see dolphins, turtles, manatees and all types of birds.
Legal Sea Foods, which has fresh fish daily brought in is right next to Improv and Muvico. The only thing farm raised are the oysters and shrimp. All the other fish is wild caught. The food here is excellent. Blue Martini where lots of business people come for happy hour to unwind and mingle after work.
After we leave the movie theater our son who is 5 years old heads straight over to the Cheesecake factory to order his chocolate cheese cake while Nestor and I have the Lettuce Wraps. As we head on over to Cheesecake Factory there is a wonderful historic theatrical theater called the Hummel Theater.
My daughter danced there with her dance company from Palm Beach Atlantic University which is right next to CityPlace.

Then we take a walk along all the shops window shopping until we get to Brookstone where Tristan has to go in to sit and get his feet massaged with this awesome foot massager they sell there for over $400.00. Tristan asked us to get that for him for Christmas! So we browse around Brookstone and it is now time to head out and front and center from us is an outdoor stage with Free live music bands with an assortment of all types of music. One Friday night we heard the best Flamenco guitarist play. He was so good that the audience just wanted more. There are rock bands, hip hop, contemporary, jazz and soul music. The stage is set in front of a beautiful fountain where at Christmas time the city puts up the big city Christmas Tree. There is a dance floor in front of the stage.
City Cellar is our favorite place to eat in CityPlace and next is Saito's which serves Japanese Hibatchi and Sushi. There are a lot of other places to eat all along the streets that make up CityPlace. The famous Dreyfuss School of the Arts high school is right down in CityPlace. This is one incredible public school which is one of the specialized schools in the county's magnet program. You must audition in order to even get into the lottery to get into this school. It is so tough to get in that every student there wants to be there and therefore the students all do very well.
If you stroll down a few blocks you will be on the Intracoastal. One of my favorite walks is walking up and down the Intracoastal at night to enjoy the yachts' lights glistening off the water. The yachts that dock here are amazingly large and elegant.
