Par broiled people.....

thermometerSome climates are downright unfriendly!

This year has been especially uncomfortable.  In March the temps were already in the 80s.  Spring sprung and flowers dependent upon cool died off early.

As June descended upon us the thermomator has soared.  With the high temps and high humidity,  it feels like we live in a permanent sauna.

Getting dressed in the morning means deciding how much you wish to sweat.  The sweat is inevitable even if you are mostly working in air conditioning.  You do have to get from place to place.  Even with good air conditioning in your vehicle, the car is hot when you get in and takes a while to cool down.

It is also uncomfortable to view properties since the vehicle sits and heats up each time you go into another property.

At least we do have air conditioning.  It is an expensive essential to live in this climate.

When I was a child, air conditioning was a rarity.  As a result we spent a lot of time in public pools.  When mid afternoon arrived it was too hot to accomplish anything.

In high school we did not have air conditioning.  The only place in the entire school that did have air was the band hall.  That never made any sense but it was a fact.

Today almost every indoor space is equipped with some semblance of temperature control.

At our house, the favorite place is the patio.  It has reached new levels of uncomfortable with the climbing temps.  Today by noon it was already close to 100degrees.  Instead of a great asset, it is a wonderful place to achieve par broiled feelings in record time.

I was also thinking how quickly the heat has come upon us.  I was surprised when the weatherman said that we had hotter days by this time last year.  Maybe it's just more humid this year.  I can take the heat over the humidity any day.

It may have been hotter last year but Hopefully the humidity this year will stay up some so the fire danger won't be so high.  But I too hate humidity otherwise.

Ralph, have you received more rain than you did this time last year? I believe we are down from last year here in west Tennessee.
