I flew to Minneapolis today to attend the wedding of my best friends son this weekend. I arrived at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport at about 1:00pm.
I picked up my luggage, and walked to the Minneapolis Light Rail stop at the airport, got on the train, and for $2 bucks rode all the way to downtown Minneapolis to the Government Center Stop. My mom works for the Hennepin County Sheriffs office, and she met me at the light rail stop and we walked less than a block back to her office.
This really got me thinking! Denver has been talking about putting a spur out to DIA (Denver International Airport). After today, I think that is a spectacular idea.
It was easy, inexpensive, and honestly, if/when this is an option in Denver, I truly believe that it would drastically cut down the amount of traffic that heads out to the airport each day!
That would mean a serious decrease in automobile emissions, and frankly, it is just a heck of a lot easier than getting into the car and driving yourself to the airport. Not to mention that parking at DIA went up to $7 per day at the Pikes Peak Lot.
Denver Light Rail, let's get this project under way and finished! We need a spur to DIA, pronto!
