Rich you issued the challenge with I could change the title of my other about baseball remembered or create a new one, well.... guess I decided to create a new one, lol.
I grew up just outside of Atlanta but was near enough to see it often. There have been many changes to the skyline over my 40 something years but one of the things I remember most is the Fulton County Stadium being changed. During my early days this wonderful old stadium housed both the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. Now, we have separate facilities for both. Turner Field is the home for the Braves and while it is a nice modern facility I will always associate the Braves with the old stadium.
Another change that I sorely regret is that we no longer have our brave doing his little dance during the game. I so looked forward to his appearance during a game.
Now, you will see this guy
because the Indian was just so politically incorrect. For the most part I like the tomahawk chop
but all those waving foam tomahawks can and do get a little annoying.
Hank Aaron was a big thing in my day of watching baseball. I can still remember when he hit the big one.
The one thing that has not changed in all my years is the need to go eat at the Varsity either prior to a game or right after the game.
It is a long standing icon in the history of Atlanta. There are two other locations but nothing can beat the
curb side service at the original location.
Baseball in Atlanta has been a recurring season of changes. Most I like but there is something to be said for not messing with tradition.
Cool Post. Have you done a MEME.
