Zillow PAW: Unlike ActiveRain and Localism

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

ActiveRain Like run amuck

Like Zillow?   Not in the Facebook sense...

Zillow's new sites are "unlike the platform of Activerain and Localism"

Suzanne Roy mentioned ActiveRain and Localism on her post about the $10 Zillow sites (or free if you are a Zillow Premier Agent) post on InmanNext yesterday.  Suzanne refers to the new Zillow sites as PAW... premiere agent websites.

In Zillow Agent Sites: The Facts by Suzanne Roy her #5 fact mentions that the Zillow sites introduced last Friday are unlike ActiveRain and Localism that they are Standalone Sites.

5.  Zillow Agent Websites are Standalone Sites

"While the platform of the Zillow Agent Websites are set up like a multisite, each PAW is an individual site (unlike the platform of Activerain and Localism).  This is important to know for SEO purposes.  When done correctly, a Zillow site has the capability to rank on Google (and any other search engine) just as any other standalone site."

Are my ActiveRain Outside Blogs NOT stand alone sites?

Columbus real estate

Worthington real estate

S. Delaware County Ohio homes

Google search right after I started my s. Delaware County outside blog on Activerain, last year.

Google found my ActiveRain Outside Blog quick

I think my ActiveRain Outside Blogs are showing up in Google. Standing alone...

Hmmmm.  Just wondering, will the Zillow sites if you strip all the links back to Zillow off show up well in the search engines? They really, really are nice looking... those PAWs.

Unlike Zillow's PAWs

A PAW has Diverse Solution IDX. Zillow owns DS.

A Zillow site is only $10.  Or free if you are a Premier Agent... if you really, really like Zillow

Thanks for the post, I am still trying to figure out if these zillow sites will be worth the money.

I think they are worth $10 if you can have the Diverse Solution IDX on it.  If your mls charges more? Maybe not.

If you already have your own WP.org blog probably not.

Maureen...

More money to be harvested from agents and brokers. I'll just stick with AR TYVM!

Does $10 cover the cost of the domain, hosting, idx?  Isn't it a loss leader for Zillow?   I agree that they will harvest more money because agents will buy into other services.

Hi Maureen - I'm already being bled to death by my own company squeezing nickels - and I'm doing very well with my AR outside blog and IDX website. I'll pass on this for now.

Dick the question is though isn't your Outside blog standing alone out on Google?  For SEO purposes.

NOT a Zillow fan.........I am currently locked in for two more months with them to sponsor a zip code but then I am done. I get more leads and calls from my RealEstate.com site than I ever did from Zillow!

Like nearly everyone here, I am not a Zillow fan at all.  I am not a big Trulia fan either.  I think consumers should stick with the link that their realtor gives them directly from the MLS that they are in.

Maureen, I know my AR outside blog does very well with Google---often coming out ahead of AR itself

Barbara-Jo  Thanks Is realestate.com the one owned by Market Leader?

Ron   "I think consumers should stick with the link that their realtor gives them directly from the MLS that they are in."  What if a consumer has NOT chosen an agent yet?

JaneAnn  ActiveRain blog?  Or does your local content show up on your Outside Blog first in SERPs?   ActiveRain tells the search engines the post on your Outside blog is the original.  My experience is the Outside Blog version shows up before the AR version.

Charles Thanks, it should come up ahead of ActiveRain because AR tells it to.  That has been my experience too.

Maureen, I am with the group here not a big Zillow fan, the only thing I like is that Brad Anderson is at Zillow so there is hope for them:)) Leads have been  warm at best...plus I did not like the pushy sales people calling me every other day.... Now to your question some of my post show up from AR and I do get calls from it. I had to laugh at what Dick said one of the reasons for my change of scenery:))

Endre I like a lot of people who work for Zillow, Sarah Bonert, Brad and  Jay Thompson.

I avoid most of the calls from the sales people though.  I made an inquiry and the woman who called me was pushy but did not make any effort to answer the question I had inquired about.  She asked if I wanted to go ahead and become a Premier Agent...  ???

I went to Brad's webinar Monday about the PAWs.

Sine I already have DS for my WP blog it seems redundant to have a Zilow blog as well. However they are offering it at far less of a monthly cost than DS costs on my other site. Interesting problem.

Cindy  The DS on your site has more features?

I've heard those who have a WP.org site with DS it would be a step backward to use these.

I am in an mls that does not allow agents to have an IDX (or some agents anyway to have their own... officially we have to use our brokers's IDX.)   That may change. I think I would be better off to get my own IDX and put it on my established WP.org when that happens.

Have you seen the buttton on your Outside Blog.  The format changed a bit, in two ways that I could see last night looking at my Outside blog.
