15 Comments on We Don't Have a Drive-In Movie Theater in the Raleigh, Cary, Apex Area. But We Do Have Movies By Moonlight...
The little mountain town of Delta, Colorado, just down the road from me, has one of 7 remaining drive in theaters in the state of Colorado. We go to at least one movie every summer. It's very nostalgic, and reminds me of my younger days when staying up late wasn't so difficult.
Craig: I have never been to a drive-in movie. I don't recall ever seeing one in England.
Craig ~ Drive-in's should be brought back all over the US ... Our children fondly recall going to the drive-in when we lived in New Jersey (Monmouth County) and New York (Orange County). Sure do miss them!!
I love the nostalgia of outdoor theaters...reminds me of "the Fonz" LOL....I hope you have a great time!
Craig- great seeing you here in the Rain. Did you see the Google Doodle today?
Craig,
I missed so many good movies at the drive in during my youth. Re-read that sentence, it is correct.
Rich
I remember going to Drive In movies in high school - It was a blast going with all our friends! And Craig - you're sporting quite the bike buddy. I bet you're a real hit on your bike at the movies!! Way fun!
Had to check out the google doddle - way cool very this post!
Debbie - How cool that you guys have a drive-in in your little town. So many have been replaced over the years. It's a bit of Americana that's going the way of the dodo bird.
Anita - Oh Anita, you absolutely need to go find one just to experience it before they're all gone. So much fun.
Karen - I agree Karen. My little girl will most likely never get to experience a drive-in movie... But, on second thought, according to Richard's comment, I'm not so sure that's a bad thing!
Kristin - I hear you Kristin! A little before my time, but I'll bet in the 50's drive-ins were the only way to enjoy a movie.
Kathy - It's great to be here Kathy! I'm just so swamped and trying to tie up the loose ends before I head on out for vacation. And, yes, the Google Doodle was my inspiration for today's blog post!
Richard - You, my friend, are the reason I will not let my daughter attend a drive-in movie even if we did have them here in the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area!
Anna - It's true! I'm all the rage and everyone wants to take a ride on my awesome bike Anna!
Anna - The Google Doodle was my inspiration for today's post!
Oh the days of the good ole fashion Drive In. I had not thought of it in years.... thanks for the memories and smiles this morning :)
Craig
The open air movies are fun to go to.
Good luck and success.

And would that old drive-in movie theater on long island have been located in Westbury?
Craig, Movies by Moonlight sounds like the next best thing to a drive-in movie! Great set of wheels you have to the Amphitheater!
We went to a drive in a few years ago. There is still one in operation just an hour drive from us. They even have the original refreshment stand and small bathrooms! Instead of the speaker that hangs on the side of door you tune in to a station on the radio for sound. Enjoyed seeing the kids in their pj's. It was a real flashback.
