Fort Wayne First Time Home Buyer's Guide - Step 3 - Looking At Homes!!!
For most of our buyers, this is the most exciting part. There have been a few that really didn't like this step, but most of them do.
Now that you have been pre-approved and (if applicable) we have had our initial meeting at the office, it's time to get out there and find your new home!
We usually recommend looking at your top 4-5 homes first. If none of those is the right home for you, we view your next 4-5 homes. If we still haven't found the right home, we will re-evaluate the situation.
Most of the time (because of all of the homework we do upfront), it only takes going out once. Sometimes it takes a couple of trips, and once in a while it takes more. Each situation is different.
Here are a couple of house hunting tips we give our buyers:
* If you have young kids and we are viewing more than one home, it might be a good idea to get a sitter. Kids get bored and distracted easily. When looking at homes, it requires your full focus. It's a pretty big decision so you want to make sure you are paying attention!
* Don't bring both sets of parents with you. If you are a first time home buyer and need the opinion of your parents... let's narrow it down to the final one or two, and then we can bring them through.
* Take notes. Sometimes it's easy to forget what you liked about house #1 by the time we get to house #4. Jot down the things you like and didn't like about it.
That's all we can think of right now. As always, if you have any questions about the home buying process, please call us at 260.704.0843. Thanks for reading!
