Green Living and Beyond...
The trend of Green or Sustainable Living/Building has now become a lifestyle for many. In fact, it has even moved beyond Green Living in some parts of the country to include what some would call "Environmentally Sustainable death care"(Green Burial Council).
The Green Burial Council (http://www.greenburialcouncil.org/) is an independent, nonprofit organization founded to encourage ethical and environmentally sustainable death care practices, and to use the burial process as a means of facilitating the acquisition, restoration and stewardship of natural areas.
A "Conservation Burial Ground" is a cemetery that encourages sustainable and ethical practices. It also involves an established conservation partner and furthers a landscape-level conservation purpose. A "Natural Burial Ground" is a cemetery that encourages sustainable and ethical practices. It does not involve an established conservation partner and does not necessarily further a conservation purpose.
People can now not only choose to have a positive effect on the environment in the way they live out their lives, but also in the way they leave this world. Talk about taking environmental care to the next level.
