OpenHouse.com Opening Door to All Brokers

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with San Diego Previews Real Estate CA BRE# 01101958

Today, Realogy is announcing that OpenHouse.com will become available to all real estate brokers, which should send up a collective cheer from home sellers around the country.

The site will be comprehensive, easy-to-use, and postings will come from an automated feed from each broker’s office.

Real estate brokers may also be smiling, because this should sooner rather than later do away with the need to advertise open houses in newspapers. Given that at least 78 percent of all real estate shoppers search online, it just makes sense for all open house listings to be posted there as well.

Realogy’s President and CEO Anthony Perriello and Mike Good, President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliate LLC, issued a joint letter to Sotheby’s Realty owners sharing the news. “In our opinion, consumers’ extensive use of the Internet in the homebuying process is enabling our industry to shift from expensive classified newspaper advertising into the nearly-free online arena–and with this major enhancement to OpenHouse.com, we are once again leading the charge.”

As a neutral, non-denominational site, OpenHouse.com will be available to every real estate broker for a nominal, one-time set up fee to initiate each non-Realogy’s brokers incoming data feed.

Additional information will be posted on Realogy’s site later today.

all as in all brokers?  Re/Max, KW small companies etc?  Not just Realogy brokerages?

A website listing all open houses is such a no brainer...why is it not out there already? I hate reading the newspaper with each company doing their own list, smaller companies get no recognition without the expensive color ads of big names. Can't wait for this to be up and running, and I hope it does include all brokerages!

Hi Roberta,

Thanks for the info. Now a question, since it's owned by NRT and a consumer signs up on openhouse.com, then do those leads get passed along to the NRT (via the combination of brokerages?) agents? Roberta, do you have any idea at this point? Since I am an independent brokerage and not affiliated with a franchise it's somewhat of a concern for me.

Thanks in advance for your response.

It is amazing we have still relied on newspapers to market open houses!  What took so long?

Maureen: As in all brokers. It just makes sense if they want to capture the traffic,

Shane: If I am not mistaken, the links and leads go directly to the listing broker or agent. I have not used OpenHouse.com before, but am thinking it might a be great link source.

Lynda: As I understand, the BROKER signs the open house up on the site and the leads go back to the broker. The feed comes directly from the real estate broker to OpenHouse.com

Marlene: I doubt OpenHouse.com would replace Realtor.com, but the name alone should drive traffic! The idea of an automated feed is also attractive.

Just to reinforce what Roberta said here, I checked with openhouse.com and they said the leads go to the agent or broker who first posted the open house listing.

Sounds good to me.  I am sitting at an open house right now.  You have to love active raining while sitting at an open house.
