Wordless Wednesday; Pink Flamingos Devour T-Rex at Google Campus

A client invited me to lunch at Google headquarters recently.  That's always a treat because the food is excellent and it's provided to employees and guests gratis.

And the expanding Google campus is fun and interesting unless you're a Tyrannosaurus Rex.  This one fell prey to ravenous Pink Flamingos.

Youthful Google employees ride from building to building on these colorful little Google bikes.

Looks like the pink flamingos picked that poor T-Rex right down to the bone.  Tougher birds than they look :-)

Good Evening Lloyd

Thanks for the post. Wow, a visit to Google Headquarters ? You have to forgive me. So are tours available? My son recently moved to Los Angeles and I've been planning a visit in July. I will absolutely look into this. Thanks for sharing.

I love it!  Jack would love this too....he has a thing for dinosaurs (what little boy doesn't) and grackles.  For some reason he is always warning his mother to watch out for the grackles.  I'm sure he would start including flamingo warnings if he saw this!

Patrick, Google Corp headquarters are in Mountain View, CA about 40 miles south of San Francisco; part of Silicon Valley.  There may be an office in L.A.  I don't know if tours are available, but they should be.  Lots of high schoolers would work harder in high school if they could work in such a fun and terrific working environment.  I was a guest of an employee who's a former buyer-client of mine, and current friend.

Sharon, hi!  We've got lots of weird stuff out here, but no 'Grackles'.  We don't let them in, we send them back to NH.  Could Jack mean 'geckos'?  These flamingos were fierce but not too scary cause they were sloooow.

Lloyd, a couple of years ago, I went ot a party at Google's New York offices, and what a great place to work!  Looks like they know how to have fun in California, too.

I get the whole creative Google/Silicon Valley thing and all of the quirky elements of their offices and compounds, but really, when in the course of my workday would I have the chance to ride a dorky bike to the next building, get a massage or a wheatgrass shot at the cafeteria, or take my dogs to the employee-pet-only park?  Good for them, but this ain't my reality.  I'm busy helping employees like these get financing for their homes....

:-)

Thanks Pat, your ears must have been burning because I just mentioned you in a comment to No. VA Cindy J.  I suggested a solution to your over-sized Doddle dog so you could purchase that property in Cindy's market that limits canines by weight.  And you wouldn't have to pretend it's a Service Dog.

Rob, you're an ordinary "worker bee" just like me.  Google discontinued the free Ben and Jerry's ice cream in any quantity.  Darn.  The competition for "kick-ass" programmers is fierce and companies treat them great to attract and keep them. Google hires the creme de la creme and treats them great.

Hi DeeDee, It would be a great place to work.  They can be very selective and attract brilliant, nice, fun people.  Offering stock-options, if they still offer them, helps too.

Larry and Sheila, I hope Google has tours for High School students because it would give teenagers a reason to work hard in school math and science.

No, not geckos....grackles.  They are birds.  He has a bird book and must have heard of them from the book.  He mentions them all the time...usually in a "beware the grackles" sort of way.

Not geckos?  Did you take that picture to teach me what a grackle is?  Thank you.  It has sinister eyes, but a pretty pattern of its back.  Thanks Sharon!

I didn't take the picture.  They are sinister looking eyes....according to Jack you have to "watch out and don't let the grackles get you!"
