Huggins Hospital is ready to move forward with its plan for expansion next spring. All the previous issues with abutters have finally been resolved. The new building will save enough money to cover the deficits that have been occurring plus increase its revenues.
Dave Tower said in a recent interview with the Baysider that "If all works as it should and our planned capital campaign meets its objectives, the community that owns this hospital will end up with a $52 million facility for $19 million in debt."
Gilbane Building Company out of Providence, R.I., who also has an office in Manchester, NH, will oversee the project. Previous projects that Gilbane has been involved in include Concord and Mercy Hospitals.
The construction should take about 30 months to complete and will be started in late March or Early April. The plan is to remove the Kingswood Youth Center.
As soon as phasing plans are completed they will be filed with the town.
