Rain, Hail, Lightning, Thunder and Tornadoes – Oh My!

Last night was a wild weather night in Colorado.  It all started around 5:00 pm at my house.  First we had incredible gusts of wind, then out of nowhere, hail stones started pelting the ground.  Pretty soon, rain was falling in buckets.  Next came the tornado sirens (3 times).  Of course, instead of going down to the basement to take cover, I went out to the street in front of my house to see if I could get a picture of any tornado clouds.  I got a couple of cool cloud shots, but then the hail started pelting me in the head and my husband made me come in.  (I think he was worried about the camera).

The house lit up all night long with intense lightning strikes and booming thunder.  My golden retriever, Rocky, didn’t leave my side for a minute.

Colorado does have some extreme weather at times.  Never a dull moment!

Hi Belinda - We got the show up here, but not the rain, hail or tornadoes (there was ping-pong size hail reported east of here!). Great thunderstorm viewing!

Belinda, if you didn't have the bad weather, you would never see the rainbow!

The rainbow was a special treat.  It only last about 12 minutes but long enough for me to snap a quick picture.  Today looks like another fun weather day!

Awesome pics!  I was to lazy lounging and watching True Blood to get up, but we had a good storm out here, which both boys slept right through.

Like any dedicated blogger, you stayed out to take pictures. Can't blame your husband for thinking you're losing it. Great rainbow.

Hi Belinda -- sounds as if you had a pretty incredible light show -- probably best to stay indoors if/when it happens again.

Belinda, I had no idea your area had such bad storms. I guess they are everywhere and we just don't hear about them.

Rain, Hail, Lightning, Thunder and Tornadoes wow... How did I miss all this news!  Dry as a bone here, not a cloud in the sky and calm.  Oh how we would love rain... don't need the hail, lightning or tornadoes!  Still dealing with wildfires on this end of the line.

Belinda - it just goes to show how intrepid ActiveRainers are. They go through rain, storms, and dark of ......rainbows to get the story. Great pictures. We had another monsoon yesterday-all day and last night too.
