Richmond Hill, GA Holds Fishing Tournament for Ft. Stewart Soliders

The 3rd Annual Dog Tags and Offshore Flags Military Appreciation Fishing Tournament put on by The Offshore Outlaws Fishing Club was a great success this past weekend at Fort McAllister Marina in Richmond Hill, GA. There were over twenty boats and seventy male & female active-duty soldiers participating in three water divisions including Inshore, Green water and Blue water. Many fish were caught and ranged in size from less than one pound to over forty pounds! Yes, there is great blue water fishing & incredible inshore fishing in Richmond Hill, GA.

The fishing boats left as early as one a.m. and as late as six a.m. in order to arrive at their respective fishing grounds. The Blue Water division traveled about seventy to ninety miles out to reach the Dolphin (Mahi). The boats in the green water division had it slightly better as they only had to travel around forty miles. The anglers look for weed lines that provide cover for the pelagic species and weather towers and buoys for the green water species. Many of the inshore fisherman fished their “honey holes” in search of winning spot tails and speckled sea trout.
