Home should be your castle, your shelter and your refugee.

If you are thinking "I want to be anywhere but here" you can't be a Portland Oregon resident.

Portland and its surrounding communities offer everything good from lifestyle to economics.  There are modern day big city amenities and job opportunities on one hand and sweet quiet suburban/country living on the other.

The Portland communities go the extra mile to not only preserve the environment and lifestyles of its citizens but to improve them as they change and grow.  As an example in 1979, Portland separated urban land from traditional farm land.  As a result, pastoral farmland and red barns are within 15 minutes of downtown. This design has contributed to better living, making possible more efficient public transportation and other benefits.

The city has established a Sustainable Development Department to help property owners live and remodel green. Portland has also developed the Office of Neighborhood Involvement which serves as a channel between the City government and 95 neighborhood associations which are grouped into seven collations.  Many neighborhoods have been developed from old commercial districts and old thoroughfares.

Portland has been named as one of "The 10 Greatest Places to Live" by Outdoor Magazine.  Portlanders are known for their active lifestyle and with this top billing you can understand why.  There is always an abundance of things to see and do, from the Pacific Ocean to Mount Hood.  Portland's parks are the city's crowning glory.  Portland parks are not your ordinary city parks, with only a small playground and picnic area.  Parks connect to other parks, connecting neighborhoods and business districts, connecting residents to cultural site and activities and to nature.  Portland parks range from artistic beauty to leisure areas and wilderness areas providing every type of recreational opportunity throughout the year.  There are more than 200 parks encompassing over 37,000 acres.

........and the list goes on and on.  There's no place on earth like Portland! Mt Hood dominates the Portland skyline
