Why I Can't Give You Legal Advice
I am your REALTOR®. I appreciate your trust in me, and I am happy to help you with the process of selling or buying a home. As your REALTOR®, I specialize in Real Estate. I know the market in our area, I will spend a lot of time, money & energy marketing, advertising, and researching for you. I know a lot about Real Estate (but certainly not everything). I know a little about a lot of other things.... Home inspections, appraisals, obtaining a loan, and even about legal matters.
While I may know a little bit about legal matters, I can't give you legal advice, because I am not an attorney. The North Carolina Real Estate Commission states:
Practice of Law [G.S. 93A-4(e); G.S.93A-6(a)(11); Rule A.0111]
Real estate licensees may not perform for others any legal service described in G.S. 84-2.1 or any other legal service.
I hope you understand that even if I do know the answer to your legal questions, I will still not give you legal advice. What you may not know is that I could easily lose my license by "acting as an attorney". Because I work for you, I want you to always get the guidance you need from the most qualified person.
So, if you have a question about Real Estate, please call me anytime, but if I feel that you need to talk to an attorney, I will recommend you do just that! If you do not have an attorney, I will be happy to recommend three good attorneys in our area.
