Thank you to Eleanor for the inspriation on this post!

A collegue of mine recently expressed frustration in dealing with a client. This client wanted to sell their home, but had recently watched Suzy Orman advise someone NOT to sell right now. As my collegue tried to explain to the client, "We do not live in one of those areas that are suffering from a major declining market", the client seemed to take Suzy's advice more seriously.

Should we listen to Suzy? Or just ignore her? Here is what I had to say >> Read Entire Post

The "Suzies" I think make a living out of educating the public about what they should be afraid of. I don't think the message is necessarily bad; I just feel uncomfortable with the deilivery.

That's the problem with these national media people.  They just don't know everything that's going on in each market.  As far as I'm concerned, they are nothing but a $50 haircut and a $5 brain.

Don't you love when TV personalities who make their money selling self help books

with little or no experience in real estate or actual investing --- give out advice. Particularly when it is a broad-stroke - not local - perspective. It really is... as I have mentioned before in my blog like a lawyer giving advice about heart surgery....not applicable.

The media seems to always get it wrong or at least biased.  I wish that more people were intelligent enough to know that the media is such a manipulating machine.

Perhaps we all need to "take things we read with a grain of salt."

Credit the media with many of our economic woes today. The helped blow bubbles into the market, and now suck the wind out of it.

Suze has been much maligned in recent months as it turns out that she has less than 10% of her personal wealth in the stock market...which she claims to be an expert at.  I wouldn't take her seriously.

Avoid the national media whenever possible regarding REAL ESTATE...They simply DO NOT get it!

Here's to a GREAT '08!

Personally, "financial gurus" get under my skin. (Suzy, Dave Ramsey, etc.) Their "financial advice" is not realistic. I put them in the same category as those late night infomercial cons.
