Despite the obvious risks of incurring illnesses like kidney problems, many individuals are still munching their favorite salty snacks. Although majority of these individuals are aware of the health risks they can bring, they simply can’t stop themselves to get bite after bite of these salt-showered foods – just because they are delicious.

Okay, I admit it I’m one of these persons. But can you blame me when I give in to the temptation of my favorite thin cut potatoes which I myself deep fry. After which, I add some cheese powder and eat them ‘til the last slice as I watch my favorite reality TV show or movie. It’s my own version of potato chips done the fried style.

There are days when my jaws become superbly active grinding corn chips. Popcorns top my list whenever I go to a nearby convenience store. It’s a snack that’s more than a movie companion to me. It also helps me ease my sleepiness during the wee hours when I still have to work.

Roaming an entire convenience store would always get someone to get a glimpse of a row or two of chips that are salty in taste. Some are baked and some are fried. Some are plain salted while others have variants like cheese, barbeque, pizza, and other enhancing tastes making them more appealing to the chip-crunching population that includes my self. I commonly prefer sour cream and onion flavored Pringles. It really had me on a nonstop crunching ‘til I ate the broken bits which really are saltier.

The salty snacks seem to be part of the usual digestive routines of many individuals such that even fast foods have their equivalent. If you would come to analyze, you’ll readily know that French Fries is the food that most snack chips manufacturer imitate in making their crunchy and salty products. As for me, I go for plain salted and the cheese-flavored variant. I enjoy French Fries best when I dip it to a sauce composed of ketchup and mayonnaise, like what I am eating in between as I write this entry.

Experts believe that the preference of many individuals to salty snacks is anchored on the dominance of the salty side of the taste buds. However, they also warn the salty snack lovers to enjoy these foods in moderation to avoid possible onset of kidney problems.

At present, the awareness of many individuals to the risks of eating salty snacks have somehow shifted gears towards the production of healthier snack options which are still salty in taste. Organic fruits and vegetables are now dehydrated while others are freshly baked to make chips. Specific examples of fruits and vegetables that are made into salty chips are carrots and cucumbers.

In conclusion, indulging in salty snacks must be done in moderation. For healthier options, there are always alternatives to the salty snacks that we have become to familiar to munch.
