Even after starting my third year in business, I still get excited to get some press. This is my first one for 2008, and is in the El Paso Times. I have included my little mention in this article. The rest of the article is here if you care to read it. In the picture section, my pictures are #4 & 5.
Before and after, with expert tips:
The problem with bedrooms is that they usually wind being a catch-all for everything at the end of the day, says Kathy Passarette of Creative Home Expressions in New York. So what can you do? Here are some tips from Passarette:
- Use closet organizers, or if you have the room under your bed, under-bed storage containers.
- Keep pictures and tchotchkes to a minimum. This is a room that should invite relaxation, so that you can de-stress and be able to fall asleep.
- Twice a year, sweep through your closets to clear out clothing that doesn't fit, such as what you haven't worn in two seasons or that is from the 1980s. Throw it out or donate it.
- Surfaces (bedside tables, dressers) should be clear except for what you need: a lamp, one or two pictures, some tissues, a book. If your bedside tables have drawers, all the better. Keep your unnecessary items put away.
- The bed is the focal point in most bedrooms. It can also look disheveled if you are due for new bedding. Invest in a nice comforter set to reflect the mood you want to set in the room.
- Make sure you have plump pillows, not only for sleeping, but also to make your bed look inviting to you.
- Paint can make a huge difference in the way you perceive your bedroom. More-soothing, relaxing colors such as green and blue can be made to feel warm and cozy with some touches of brown.

Kathy,
Great list and congrats on getting a mention in the press. Now... what do I do about these dust bunnies under the bed? They keep hogging all the space!
