I have $250 to spend...what training, dvd, CD, book, etc should I spend it on?

You know, every day we're inundated with offers to spend our hard-earned money on training. I have some extra $$$ spend and I've wisely given myself a limit.  Here's where I need the collective brain power of the Active Rain community.

What should I spend it on? Is there one thing in your library you can't live without or that changed your business?

If you can't come up with something smart to spend it on, I'll have to spend it on shoes or a new bag.  So, no skin off my back but I'm hoping to get something other than compliments from my friends on my choice of shoe/bag.

Here's what I've invested in already, to avoid duplicates.

  • ABR & GRI designations (GRI almost complete)
  • Buffini's 100 Days to Greatness (35 days left to go). Going to Training Camp in January and Turning Point in April.

But, I feel like I'm missing some basic selling skills.

Here's what I'd probably be interested in:

  • Presentations to Sellers/Buyers & Dialogues (not how to put a powerpoint presentation together but how to handle the listing appt, what to bring with me, handling objections & different personalities)
  • Blogging/technology
  • Developing Marketing Plan for either Buyers/Sellers
  • Pricing

I just went to the RE/MAX New England Sales Rally and saw David Knox & Howard Brinton - great stuff but is it all worth the cost?

Get "The Strangest Secret" from Simple Truths (about $20) and spend the other $230 on a nice lunch today and a massage this afternoon.  The book will keep you focused and motivated and the lunch and massage will be a happy memory of the start of what is sure to be a GREAT '08!

Be of service! The rewards will come!

You might want to include E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber (book or audio) in your readings.

Andrew,

Yes, I use Outlook right now.  I have Agent Office and I found it to be so clunky.  I've used ACT before but it seems too much for what I need so I'm sticking with Outlook for now.

How about you send it to me.  I will use the money to take my clients out and convince them to move to Newington, CT.  I will handle the sell of their home, you handle their purchase.

Before I do buy any books, cds or what wver I do try and find it at the library or see if anybody I know has botten it and willing to swap it for something I may have.  But im kind of cheap that way.

I recommend "Get Clients Now!" by CJ Hayden.  The first time I read it, I made over 100 times what I invested. A friend borrowed my copy so it's time to get a new one.

Jessica, great question, but I have to agree with Chad, you can probably find a lot in the librabry and save your money. Books are great and I have even recommened a couple myself, but you put them away and don't always remember to use what you learn. Take the money and use it to join a club or group or something that will give you the capability to go out and network. You'll probably have some left over for shoes too.
