Just a little tip... recently I found that once I had finished my active rain blog entries and wanted to post them they actually just disappeared... the active rain editor was asking me to enter a title and entry despite the fact I just had done that...

This happened a couple of times now and I am tired of writing blogs and then to loose them to the "cyber nowhere land" when trying to activate them...

Therefore I recommend that you write your blog entries in your own word processor on your computer and then just copy and paste them here...

OR

You can copy the post onto your clip board before you try to post it... that way you still have your copy on hand to paste in case the post did not go through...

It's so easy to push the wrong button, not just on AR, so now I always copy anything I write even before I get done. Should probably type it somewhere else first, will try gmail. Thanks for the reminder.

Phyllis, this sounds pretty darn frustrating.  Going through all of that work, and then watching it disappear into cyberspace.  Ouch.

Phyllis, if you do it in Word, there can be a lot of HTML, like Sallie and David said. I write mine in Gmail - can enlarge the font and add color, email it to myself and I have a record. Always good idea to have a backup somewhere else, even though I haven't lost anything here in a long, long time.

Excellent advice Phyllis.  I think most of us have had this frustration when we lose an hours work and "Poof" it's gone.  Thanks for a reminder for all of us to take the extra step to avoid the problem.

I actually write them in gmail and then copy and paste them. Then I have a record of the post and the date I wrote it.

Great tip, I havent had this problem, but I generally write them in word first because I dont like the tiny font that I am stuck with when I write thim in ar.

When I get the message, I copy and paste my blog and graphics to my AOL e-mail and send it to myself - it saves graphic and content so I can post it later.

Phyllis, while this hasn't happened to me yet on Active Rain, I'm sure the next time I go to post a blog it will, so I will certainly utilize one of the 2 recommended strategies... Thank you

Phyllis. All you have to do is have your posts 'lost in space' a couple of times and writing them outside AR and copy and paste is the way to go.

I make it a habit to do all important writing on the word processor first. This also provides two proofing opportunities.

I post directly on Active Rain because of the formatting. I save the post in draft mode first.

Hi Phyliss,

I have always done that. Editing is easier, and I write them faster.

Thanks for the tip

Yes, happened to me too!  Started saving to my clipboard, just in case!

I use Scribefire and that provides an additional copy (and more formatting options) so that I won't have any issues if it disappears in AR cyberland.

So, I am not the only one that this has happened to?  That is excellent news (or bad news, dependingon how you look at it). After losing a few, I did start to copy them just to be sure.  Glad I didn't throw my computer out the window after all.

Phyllis, I have had the same problem more than once.  I started doing exactly what you suggested.  It works beautifully!!!

After this happened to me once, I switched to creating content using Google docs (which of course they are changing and calling it something else!) What I like is every doc I create is there and easily accessible in one click on the title. Oh, plus it saves by the nanosecond!
