3 Comments on Crofton Rain Garden - A Community Project
What a terrific community project and anything we can do to help protect the Chesapeake Bay is vital.
Wonderful when a Community Group pulls together. The project looks fantastic and like tons of work went into it.
Cindy, I never thought we'd see it. Some people in Crofton have been talking about this for about 30 years. I guess the time is right now - leaders that were willing to work together and 2 sources of funds outside the tax dollars.
Debbie, I may have taken the "community" for granted until my daughter visited the community we lived in when she was born. We used to say it was "just like Crofton, but the people aren't involved." Now, she tells us, the golf course and club house are abandoned, about half the homes are bank owned and most of the others are run down. Folks in this community ARE involved. Maybe it's the fact that so many of them work for the government, government contractors and non-profits... they're accustomed to sticking there noses in and getting things done.
