Saturday Staging Feature: I Had a Designer, Why Get It Staged?

So sorry, I'm a day late with my Saturday Staging Feature.  That doesn't make it any less important!  Take a look at this week's "installment".

Typically you hire a Designer to decorate your home to YOUR taste.  When you hire a Home Stager, you are preparing your home for sale.  In this case you want your home to be neutral, welcoming to everyone and not "taste specific".  A professional Home Stager will accentuate the features of your home to attract a buyers attention.

Kathy Streib, a professional Home Stager in Delray Beach, FL, shares photos of good examples of the difference between Personal Design and Home Staging.

Boca Raton Home Staging FAQ’s- I Had a Designer, Why Get It Staged?

Over decorated homeThis is a question Home Stagers get asked by homeowners and Realtors.  They also point out that all of the objects and decor in the home are very expensive.

Nicely Decorated Doesn’t Always Mean Well Staged.

Interior Decorators or Designers plan “creative and technical solutions” for interior spaces incorporating the client’s particular interests and preferences.

Home Stagers provide creative and technical  solutions for a property

so that the assets, space and possibilities of the home are highlighted.

They want to appeal to the broad range of targeted Buyers for the area.

They are not mutually exclusive.....a decorator can offer home staging services and many home stagers are also decorators.  Home Stagers apply  the same design principles and techniques that are used by interior designers.

I often see homes that have had the benefit of a decorator.... many of the accessories and furniture are very expensive.   And often they are taste specific.

before and after home staging

This condo in Palm Beach County was decorated to suit the tastes of the owner.

When it was time to sell it was necessary to convince the owners to remove the wall paper and the Master Bedroom Built-ins.

Remember this- Buyers are there to see your space and architecture of your house....they want to see the “Liveability” of it.

They are NOT there to see your things AND what you don’t want is for your things to distract them from seeing their future home.

Don’t let your decorating get in the way

of selling your home.

Donna - you have given the perfect clarification for the differences between a designer and a stager. While designers may have done a wonderful job on a home, it doesn't mean the decor will meet the approval of the masses. Staging is so important, to provide a neutral palate - which will appeal to a broader audience of buyers.

Thanks for sharing!

Jeff

Kathy is exactly right....big difference between staging and decorating.  Most people think staging is simply decorating.
