Home Residential Resale Statistics for Ellicott City -- May 2012

 

May was a strong month for Ellicott City, Maryland.

21042 saw a 16.5% boost in total sales volume when compared to last year, increasing from $20 million to $23.2 million.  When compared to last month, sales increased 22.6%.  Ten more units were sold this May than last, and they stayed on the market for an average of 30 less days, 51 days as opposed to 81.  Only one home took more than 180 days to sell, while 26 homes sold in less than 30 days. 

The 21043 portion of Ellicott City also saw an improvement with sales going up 20% compared to last month and a whopping 72% increase compared to last year ($19 million versus $11 million).  Once again, homes sold much quicker with an average of 42 days compared to May 2011's 70, and the number of homes sold increased 58%  from 31 to 49.  With summer approaching, this boost in activity is hopefully a positive sign of things to come.
