Being the golfing gentleman that I am, I help my opponent look for his ball. Just before the permitted five minute search period ends, the Realtor says: “Go ahead and hit your second shot and if I don’t find it in time, I’ll concede the Hole.”

I hit my ball, landing it on the green, stopping about ten feet from the pin. About the time my ball comes to rest, I hear my opponent exclaim from deep in the woods: “I found it!”. The second sound I hear is a click, the sound of a club striking a ball and the ball comes sailing out of the woods and lands on the green, stopping no more than six inches from the hole.

Now here is the ethical dilemma:

Do I pull the cheating bastard’s ball out of my pocket and confront him with it or do I keep my mouth shut?

Ethics Morals and values are instilled in us when we are little and remain with us our while lives.  How many times are realtors confronted with an “Ethical” dilemma that places them in the bad spot of having to take the high road for their client as their own family may suffer.   As a Title Insurance agency, Family Abstract is ofter asked to forgo certain requirements and just keep our mouth shut.  I can assure you, we WONT bend on the Ethics, Morals and Values that were instilled in us as children, and grew stronger over our 26 year history in the title industry.  Title insurance, thankfully, does not place agencies  in uncomfortable positions because our rules are based on laws and statutes that we can always rely on, if the asking gets too tough and we need the proof of law to back up our statements.  Golf is Golf!

So keep your own balls in your own pocket, play with your own putter and just shoot the best you can.
