I hoped if I titled my blog "the first day of the rest of my life" I might get someone to read it. In fact, this is January 10,2008 and my very first blog in active rain. Come to think of it- my very first blog in "any" rain. I am not altogether sure I even know what the heck a "blog" is---but if you are patient enough to hang around, I will try to figure it all out and hopefully I can one day give back something to the active rain community of what I have been given so freely.
Although this is my first blog attempt ever, I have been a member of AR for a while now, reading the different blogs and getting good information from the question and answer site. I am very pleased to find this site and equally pleased to see that everyone here seems to get along well and have a good attitude.
Speaking of "attitude" this is where the first day of the rest of my life comes in. I have been working the last few days on my business plan and my thoughts of what I need to do to make 2008 a successful year for me in this market. Of course I have a plan of action, but along with a business plan for the upcoming year, I have an attitude adjustment plan to go along with it.
I know full well that the market is slow in a lot of areas. I also realize the media is really playing a big part building that "wall" for the buyers and sellers, giving every bit of discouraging news they can to add more blocks and build that wall a little higher. It is up to us, fellow realtor's to tear that wall down. It is time to change our attitude and fight back!!
I am not implying that we need to pretend that the economy is perfect and we are not facing some hard times ahead as we have in the past. But we must realize that there are always going to be people out there that need our professioal services and there will always be a need for housing. Just llke we all have to eat and drink to stay alive, we all have to have a roof over our heads too!!
We may be making some adjustments, but the fact still remains- that we still have a job to do, and as professional realtor's, we can keep a good positive attitude about the business of finding that dream home for our client, keep a smile on our face and be glad for what God has given us!!
They say if you give a smile away---a smile will come right back at you----so I plan on giving my all to having a good attitude in 2008 and maybe that good attitude will spread like wildfire. I will treat my family with respect, my fellow realtor's with respect, my clients and my co- workers with respect, and I hope it spreads. As tough as we all might think it is, I can clearly remember my parents growing up during the years of the depression and how hard they had it. Folks, if you are 60 or younger---according to the information I remember----we don't even have a clue what "hard times" really are.
So in the upcoming year my hope for all of us is--chin up- a smile on our faces- pleasant thoughts and actions- and we will be better for the efforts. I wish you all a fantastic 2008 and I look forward to sharing many happy times with my family on active rain as well as my family at Weichert Realtor's Southern Coast.
Weichert Realtor's Southern Coast--you guys are the best!! I have enjoyed the past and look forward to the future!! May we all have a very productive and prosperous 2008!!!
