What mobile device and application allow me to be on the go?
I like to travel light...so light that all I usually bring with me is a wallet-on-a-string and my smartphone (iPhone).
Occasionally, I’ll bring my MacAir. I rarely bring my iPad since the MacAir is just as light and I can do a heck of a lot more with my computer. And if don’t worry about internet connection because I have a small wireless modem I use in such occasions (yep, the modem fits in my wallet-on-a-string)
But in my profession, can these really be enough?
Well....yes!
But I made several “adjustments”.
GMAIL | Got tired of troubleshooting the synch function between my computer and my iPhone (and Droid before that). So I decided to chuck it all and use only gmail. I felt so liberated! With gmail, when I make one change on one device, it shows up on the other devices without connecting any devices. So all my emails, contacts, calendars are in synch on my phone, my laptop and my iphone. It’s like magic :) |
iPhone |
Smart and pretty with big screen and a visual keyboard that appears as needed. Easy access to the internet (Oh,I I changed carriers, too....have been with Sprint, then AT&T, and now with Verizon). Over 500,000 apps designed for it, and many of which are also on the iPad. |
MacAir |
Yes, I have an ipad. But with my MacAir being so small and light, it’s just as easy to take it with me instead of the iPad. It has more functionality. See when Steve Jobs introduced the MacAir. Click here

Dropbox | Instead of storing important documents on my hard drive, I learned my lesson and I’ve uploaded them all on Dropbox. I may change someday, but it’s great to have access to my files anywhere I am, as long as I have internet access. Watch this video to see how it works |
Docusign | Electronic signatures make a huge difference in how we conduct business. There’s faster signing regardless of where the parties are, as long as they have access to their email. And there’s less grousing about the mountains of paperwork once people get used to signing online by merely clicking here and there. Further, we have less physical paper when nearly all documents are pdfs and stored online. |
MyFax | And for those who still want to do paperwork the old fashioned way with wet signatures and faxing, I ask them to fax the documents to me to my efax number. The documents, in turn, are converted to pdf and sent to my email. Ta daaa! |
Mi-fi | Small modem the size of a credit card connects up to five mobile devices (I can use with my iPhone, iPad or MacAir) |
So why take the IPad when I can take my MacAir instead? Have you really seen how small, thin and light MacAir is? Here's a picture showing the ipad on top of the MacAir which is not that much bigger than the iPad and is nearly as thin. Happily, all my Apple mobile devices are sleek in design and style.
With these mobile devices and applications, being on the go has never been as easy, efficient and effective.
