The third annual Ellicott City 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run is coming up on Sunday, July 1st at the Benjamin Banneker Park in Oella.  The park is near Catonsville and old Ellicott City and surrounded by trees so it's a gorgeous run!

 The race is sponsored by MedStar NRH Rehabilitation Center and is also intended to raise awareness about diabetes in adults and children.   Proceeds will go to Adventures for the Cure which sends kids with diabetes to camp and supports kids with disabilities in Kenya.

The 5K and 10K both start at 8:15 that morning and a .4 mile Kids Fun Run starts right after.  The kids race is open for 4-10 year olds and should be fun to watch!

The courses will take runners down Oella Avenue, onto Old Frederick Road and then to the Trolley Train #9.  Beginner and moderate racers are encouraged to register - the course has just enough hills to make it challenging!

 

Online registration for the 2012 EC5K/10K and Kid's Fun Run is open. Registration is $25.00 for 5K participants, $35.00 for 10K participants and $5.00 for Kid's Fun Run thru June 26. Race day registration is available. 

 

Runners who register by June 26th gets a t-shirt and all Fun Fun participants get a medal.  Food, drinks and music will welcome everyone at the end of the race and it's a family event for sure!  The race website is very informative and includes maps of the courses as well as cost and registration details.

Saturdays in the summer are always so busy so it will be nice to have a reason to get outside and cheer the runners on a Sunday morning.  Plus it's a great excuse to go down the street after and get a coffee and muffin at the yummy Breadery!

Do something healthy in the Ellicott City / Catonsville area and love it!

Wow, 10 k is quite a long run for kids, however, if they have an ice cream truck driving a few yards ahead of them they will all make it to the finish line.
