Resolved, that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field representing a new constellation."

The first flag day was celebrated on June 14, 1777.  It wasn't officially recognized until President Truman signed it into law in 1949.  The law was proposed.  Bernard Cigrand, known as the "Father of Flag Day" went around the country delivering speeches about having a Flag Day.  He first observed in 1885 in the city of Waubeka, Wisconsin.

There were many other proponents including President Woodrow Wilson.  The in 1927 President Coolidge offered the second proclamation but it wasn't until 1949 that it became law.

Each and everyrime I see our American Flag, it immediately makes me say, "I proud to be an American". The last fews have not been America best, but that is all about to change, for the better.

Good morning Conrad to think of all the troops and people who have given the ultimate

sacrifice to keep that flag flying.  To those who would destroy us and the flag many have tried and many have failed.  What we need is Congress are representatives of the people and a President that calls it like it is so that America can regain the stature it once had.

Good morning, Conrad.....I think many here forgot that it's flag day....I'm one of them.... I remember when my children were in elementary school and there was a morning of performances, songs and poems read.... I hope that still goes on.
