It’s Flag Day! Are you flying the stars and stripes?June 14 is Flag Day in the United States. On this day in 1777 the Second Continental Congress resolved to make the red, white and blue ensign with thirteen stars and stripes the official flag of theUnited States of America.

The flag has seen many changes over the years, as one star has been added for each state that has been admitted into theUnion, while the original thirteen stripes have been retained as a tribute to our first states.

I remember when two new stars were added, one in 1959 forAlaska and one in 1960 forHawaii. Since then the flag has remained relatively unchanged.

So today is the day that we recognize the flag as the symbolic representation of ourUnited States!

Richard- a great reminder of a special day. I remember the days following 9/11 when we all wore our flag pins as well as flew the Stars and Stripes at home.  We need to remember how we all came together for our country.
