To the First Man to Make Me Feel Like a Princess..Happy Father’s Day.

Although my father is no longer with us, I know that in his eyes I could do no wrong.  He made me feel like I was a Princess.  And while I never (for the most Princesspart) gave him reason to think otherwise,  I was, as every daughter knows,  “Daddy’s Little Girl”.

Fathers often get the short end of the Hallmark /Special Day treatment.  You know what I mean.... Mother’s Day is a hallowed day, with roses and gifts, and breakfasts in bed.  And that’s as it should be.

But what about Dads?   Many will be outdoors cooking on the grill, or watching the US Open.  Perhaps they will have time to even hit some golf balls themselves.  But they just never seem to get the accolades that Moms do.

So to all the Dads out there, and that includes Uncles, Grandfathers,  and Father figures ….. thank you.

Thank you for showing us how to throw a football and swing a baseball bat.

Thank you for attending our games and recitals, sitting for hours when you’d rather be at home after working all day.

Happy Father's DayThank you for teaching us to drive a car and always making sure we wear our seatbelts.

Thank you for just always being there... no matter what.

Thank you for making little girls everywhere feel like they are indeed special Princesses.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Kathy, my Dad is longer with us..but, his memory will live on with his children..10 are still living..and every time we get together we, of course, talk about dad and mom. This is a great post and suggested!

What a nice tribute to your own Dad and all the others out there who make their little girls feel special and safe and loved. Sounds like we were both very lucky in the "Dad department!"

Kathy-I know your Dad is very proud of you and has a smile on his face as he watches over you. Great tribute to your Dad from his princess.

Lisa- thank you and hope your weekend is off to a good start!

Scott- and you as well.  Hope you're treated very specially this weekend.

Dorie- Oh how I'd love to hear that one.  My dad and then my uncle taught me to drive a stick shift.  Fortunately Houston is flat so no hills!

BARFF- critter still around?

Joan- absolutely.  I love it during the holidays when dads are in the mall with their children trying to buy gifts.

Fernando- Hope you are treated like a KING on your special day.

Joanna- you are so lucky!  I know you'll make his day special.

Debbie- I do and I wish all kids could grow up with those memories.

Rebecca- Wow 10!! You are so lucky.  I hope you're passing those stories down to the grandchildren.

Kristin- thank you.  And hope your dad has a great Father's day.

Fred- that sounds like fun.  I think my dad would have preferred that over piano recitals!

Debb- yes a big thank you!  I love seeing father's involved with their families and taking on more parenting responsibilities.

Nancy- we are lucky.  Dads have a way of making all little girls feel so special.

Sharon- Thanks!  I like to think that all dads are still around watching over us all.

Kathy, I was never fortunate enough to have a real father.  Nor did I become one myself.  But, I have had several older guys that I hung out with after I was older of whom I grew quite fond.  And, from time to time, they would give me advice and, of course, hang out with me.  Most of them have gone on to greener pastures...at least I hope they did.

But, here's to all the dads who sacrifice so much for their princesses (and princes!).

Kathy, what a wonderful tribute. If any Father is questioning his worth today, all he has to do is read your post and endeavor to be there for his children. Thanks for posting.

Pass the tissues please.  You had me with the title....barely got through the first line.  My dad is still here and I'll be posting to him tomorrow.  I am also a fellow princess, and it doesn't matter how old you get or how old he gets....daddy's little princess is a wonderful feeling!

Kathy, So sweet and got me thinking....

"thank's dad for all those spit shines on my navy blue shoes I wore to 8 years of Catholic school. You did the same for my 5 sisters, and that's a lot of spit!" LOL

I love your post Kathy.

As a father, I don't feel the need for the same accolades that others get. It is a gift to be a father, even if it is not Hallmark special!

Hug a Father!

Good morning Kathy on behalf of the dads in the world we thank you.  Sad to say some won't get a phone call, a card or anything but that is the way it is sad to say.
