Thinking Outside the Box in Edmonton! If You Can't Find What You Want, Make It Yourself: Session 5!

I've been trying to find some abstract art that I like and that I can afford.

Not so easy, most of it is very expensive, not the right size and the colours aren't what I want.

So I decided to try and paint some myself.

Holidays and life has taken me away from the studio, but I got there today and painted 2 triplets and one lager piece. The pix are from my phone, so not entirely accurate...

The owners of the studio are opening an art school and have asked me to come in and teach students my technique, which they both say is very unique and different.

That ought to be fun; I'll be using technical terms like smoosh and splat!
:D

Peg, thanks for the post.

I was pondering, if you spend so much time outside the box; does the box even exist?

Enjoy a father this weekend.

Hi Peg!

Wow what fabulous painting you do!  You are one talented lady!  You are so right it is hard to find paintings that are just the right size and color to go with our staging projects.  This is definitely the way to go...  only wish I had this kind of talent like you do!

Sharon, it's the only way to go! Smooshing is the first part and splatting is the second! I hope they have fun!

Linda, Thanx! I have been working on triplets lately (mostly becasue the smaller canvi fit in my car) And I'm going to work on one with a large center canvas and one smaller above and below so it will take up a lot of room depending on how you hang them... ps, you'll never know until you try it! :D

Peg, "Smoosh & Splat" are words that I can understand :)  Anyway, I like the bottom right creation of yours.  Looks like more smooshing than splatting going on there.
