Working New Construction = Tire Warranty & Discount Tire

Finally we're seeing construction of new homes picking up speed in the Phoenix area.  Since the market melt down there were a lot of small builders that closed up shop and some big ones as well.  Entire neighborhoods sat empty for years.  But now - holy moly rockie- new homes are flying off the shelves again. Thankfully.

What this means to real estate agents and our buyers is we need to be aware that there is a higherhttp://www.uis.net/newhomes/search.cfm?aid=AGT20111031_00AK01238395 probability of picking up a stray nail or screw in a tire or two. And that's never a fun thing.  One of my tires kept loosing air - not much -  and at first I thought it was an electronic glitch that came and went on my dashboard. Some days it said the pressure was fine, other days it said it was low. I got to thinking about it and realized that I've been in new home construction zones a lot this past 6 months or so. And I bet I picked up a nail in one of the new home developments.

We took my car in for an oil change as scheduled and low and behold the tire was showing low again.  Of course the dealer wanted us to buy a new tire as this one was 'so bad'. But we didn't fall for that story line.

We knew where to go - Discount Tire. They repaired the leak, with fast and very friendly service.  The guy mentioned that we could get a 'tire warranty' that would last for the next 3 years for $126. It would cover any repairs, balancing and replace any tires that needed replacing. That sounded like a wise move since the chances of me picking up more nails in a new home construction zone is very high.

I am very pleased that we bought a Discount Tire Warranty for my car. It gives me peace of mind knowinghttp://www.uis.net/newhomes/search.cfm?aid=AGT20111031_00AK01238395 who I can turn to anywhere in town to fix or replace a tire when needed -Discount Tire.  I've always been pleased with their service in the past and I'm sure I will be in the future.

I'm guessing some of you know about a tire warranty, right?  But for those of us who didn't know about them, now you do!  If you're working in new home developments you might want to consider getting a tire warranty.

Hi Anna...Smart Lady, We get Screws in our Tires too. I get one at least once a year. Costco has the best Prices for Flats and Slow leak repair...Free if you bought your tires through them, $10 if not.

Congratulations on your feature...I better start writing about tires

Ellen now tires on Big Cats is a whole different story. I'm sure you've got that covered and it's so good to hear your construction business is booming.

Debbie it sure does. Somebody that can get us in and out back on the road selling homes.

Lenn - lol your car talks to you too?  Sometimes I still hear new stuff from my car after 1 1/2 years.  But it's good to know.  I am so impressed with Discount Tires in Phx.  We asked for a price on a new tire and he told us we didn't need one. That's honesty.

Tom just part of what we all deal with as agents/brokers!

Mike and some shops are just out to make a quick buck as we all know.  Those that don't have our long term business in their back pocket.  Hmmm sounds like real estate agents.

Joni oh yes I have sold a lot of rural properties over the years and nails etc is just part of the job. Hopefully we make it back to get it fixed without a lot of hassle.

Cindy isn't it always about perception!

Donna I'll be waiting for that call!  I didn't know - I simply wrote this because they were honest and straightforward. I like that in a company.

Lou - if it's not fixable in a short amount of time that's a good idea.

Pamela....exactly! Who knew!!

Nancy I'm consider it the joys of selling new homes.....after so many years of not doing so. I can deal with a few tire issues.

Since the story is about the new construction and tire, I recommend you buy the tires from TireRack - not only inexpensive, it comes with warranty...

Locally we have America's Tire, which I believe is the same company as Discount Tire. We love there service too. The free rotations have helped with the life of my tires. I just bought a new set yesterday, the old set had 80,000 miles on them. Oddly enough, I did not have one nail or screw in any of the tires over the entire life of the tires.

Happy Father's Day Anna!

Flat tires are no fun at all.  And driving on them with low air is one sure way to damage the tire so it can't be repaired.  Glad to hear new construction is going well in my old home of the Valley of the Sun!

I have a different German car now but back when I had a Mercedes, they gave you a free lifetime road service. I can't count the number of times I had to call the 800# for flat tires due to stray nails and crap in the street. I don't think I have free road service now. I have to instead rely on the kindness of strangers.

You are masterful tying in the new construction with your tire woes. And, it's a good warning too. Glad to hear that new home starts are up - sorry to hear about the tire, but happy you have Discount Tire. Happy Father's Day Anna. :)

Hi Anna, no  didn't know that the tire warranty covers for nails in the roadway. I thought it was just for covering a faulty tire. Good to know!

I can barely buy one tire for that.  I wonder if anyone offers that kind of warranty around here?  They would get my business in a heartbeat.

discount tire does a great dis-service because they do not have an alignment machine... when you get new tires you must get an alignment... you should get an alignment every 6-12 months as well.... NTB has a great 3&5 year alignment deal with unlimited alignments -- now that tire company is providing a great customer service

Anna-If your an agent who works new construction you get this. I typically buy my tires where they have a lifetime warranty as long as I own the car.

Take care!
