Happy Father's Day!


A while back I wrote a post; 

Back on the streets,... what I am thankful for.

This is a tiny exert of what I wrote;

"I need to leave now, before the ugliness of today destroys the happiness of my yesterdays.  As I drive away I make a mental note to thank my father the next time I see him.  I'll thank him for working three jobs to get us out of there, instead of resenting him for not being home enough.  I'll thank him for loving me when I hated him for moving me away from my friends and my home and the warmth and security I thought I had there.  Most of all I'll thank him for being the wonderful dad that helped fill that home with all those warm memories I still have." 

 

While he may not be perfect (are any of us?), he did his best with the knowledge and ability of what he had at the young age of 18. 

Thank you daddy, for all you did!

True great dads have a way of doing just that, being great. My dad moved us to Houston and away from family and friends. I too was angry and so home sick. Looking back I would not be where I am today if he had not made that hard decisions.

It's really hard to find the words when ever this day comes. I had lost my father who was my Rock.

Just close your eyes Marian.  Think back to when you were a little girl and your dad gave you one of those most loving bear hugs.  I bet you can still smell him, feel the strength of his embrace, the scruff of his 5 o'clock shadow.  At any given moment he's with you each and every day in your heart and mind.  And I have no doubt he felt your hug too when you wrote that comment and gave him so much thought.

Big hugs my most wonderful friend!  I miss you all a great deal.  Can't wait till I get to come to North Carolina again.  :)
