Delray Beach Meter Parking on A1A-New Hours and Parking Permits!
When you’re in Florida, whether for a week, for the season or as a permanent resident, sooner or later you’ll find yourself at Delray ‘s beautiful beaches. The activity along A1A and Atlantic Avenue varies from morning walkers, groups of cyclers headingnorth, families arriving for a day at the beach, dogs and their owners out for a walk, diners heading to any one of our ocean front restaurants and kayakers, divers, and wind-surfers ready to hit the water.

We have plenty of parking spaces along A1A but don’t forget to bring some coins to feed the Delray Beach Parking Meters. And when you get there keep an eye out for Dennis.
Dennis has been with the City of Delray Beach for almost 20 years and has
been caring for the meters for almost 3. Delray recently changed the hours when the parking meters would be in effect and thanks to Dennis many beach goers were made aware of the changes.
Recently we were about to place our quarters in the meter for a morning walk along the beach. Dennis saw us and stopped to tell us that the time had changed and that in fact we early-birders wouldn’t have to pay until 9:30 now. Metered parking used to start at 8 A.M.
Dennis is there many mornings and he always has a smile on his face. I think he is aware that he IS the face of the city to those he meets while servicing the parking meters. His pleasant attitude helps to send the message that Delray Beach cares about its visitors.
New Hours for Delray Beach Meter Parking along A1A-

Good morning Kathy,
This post is a great shout out to those in your area about the change in time for parking and a reminder a parking permit is a viable option!
Morning Kathy -
You have no idea how a Florida beach vacation sounds to this ole desert rat right about now! Maybe sooner than later :)
Hope you enjoy a productive week my friend.
This is a nice local post and a nice way to pay it forward. I love the pictures of the beach.
Kathy, nice beach shots and thanks for introducing honest, sweet Dennis
You always come up with the best local posts BARFF................kudos to you my friend!
Nice, a parking fee relief! Good news for all. You sure do make me want to get to this ocean front area soon. Nice post. I miss the beach and the ocean.
Good morning, Kathy..... keep an eye out for the meter maid and make sure your meter is still running....I don't know about your area, but we pay a good fine for not having money in the meter....
Kathy, great shout out to let everyone know about the new hours! Dennis looks like he does a great job!
Good morning Kathy its so nice to see someone friendly in local government (most are not). Enjoy your day and your walk
Dorie- We've seen and warned a lot of people like us who were used to the meter beginning at 8 am. I never knew about the parking permit until this year.
John (QMan)- head on over! The snow birds are gone so you would greeted with open arms by all!
Gita- every day is a new day at the beach. It's fun to see it when we have a little bit of surf and everyone's out to try to take advantage of it.
Josh- thanks.
Ellen-it's always nice to see his smiling face when we're headed out to walk.
BARFF- why - thank you. Have a surprise for you tomorrow.
Bobbie- head south! Beaches are great and I see a cabana waiting for you.
BarbaraT- I'd imagine we do here too. Revenue generating machines that they are.
Joan- Unfortunately when we were there yesterday morning I saw a lot of little "notes" left on car windows.
James- we're pretty lucky. So far everyone I've met has seemed very friendly.
Good Morning Kathy, What a nice blog about Dennis, it is not a great job some days for teh abuse they get. Nice tips on parking, I can not wait until fall to be back on your beautiful beaches. Have a great Monday
Kathy, Dennis looks like a really friendly, helpful guy with getting the word out..another wonderful local post!
Great useful info Kathy... on Living in Delray Florida.. You are certainly the go to person!!
Kathy... I remember seeing Delray Beaches in Florida and I didn't have coins for the meter and I couldn't find any free parking spots. I was bummed! No - I don't use the ATM and I didn't have any coins so I all I could do was drive around and feel sad that I wasn't prepared.
I'm glad you mentioned this for very important piece of information for other people to know in advance. I still live with regrets just because I didn't have coins!
You're lucky to have such a pleasant person let you know what the new rules are and try to be of help. Try having the NYC cops take on that attitude here. They stand around watching the clock for the minute that you become illegally parked.
Kathy, The fluffy sands look so inviting but honestly, I prefer the white sand of the Florida panhandle. And it's closer to me too.
So you place the permit where they can see it, and you don't have to feed the meter....ever? If that's the case, it's cheap and certainly beats a parking ticket.
