Moulin Rouge on the Island was the theme of the annual Charity Night celebration at the Alameda Elks Lodge on Saturday.  In keeping with the theme many of the party goers dressed in Parisian costumes from the late 1800’s.

Upon entering the Lodge guests exchanged their tickets for gambling chips.  They were then directed to casino-style games including Roulette, Black Jack, craps and Texas Hold ‘em, a decidedly un-Parisian card game.   Delicious appetizers were served along with champagne and other exotic drinks flowed including absinthe which was served at its own bar.

There was also a raffle and silent auction table with all sorts of enticing prizes. A cigar bar was situated outside to comply with Alameda No Smoking ordinance.

After a light repast, can-can and burlesque dancers entertained the enthusiastic crowd.  The Moulin Rouge on the Island was a lot of fun and a great success for the charities benefiting from the event.

Proceeds from the Alameda Elks Charity Night benefit local children’s charities including the Alameda Boys and Girls Club of Alameda, Girls Inc. of the Island City, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Encinal High School Band as well as helping to fund
college scholarship and veterans’ programs.

Me too.  I don't gamble when we go to Lake Tahoe, but I love local charity night casinos.  It is so much fun to put my chips in and say "I'm all in."  I'm to cheap to do that with real money.  It was a fun event.  Thanks Tom.  Hope you Father's Day was nice.
