HOUSTON AREA EXPERIENCING INCREDIBLE SALES ~ MAY 2012 MARKET REPORT

 

 

The Woodlands as well as the entire Houston area are on fire right now in the housing market.  The numbers are in and May was truly a record breaking month.  Sales are booming and the available inventory is shrinking before our eyes.

All indicators support this increase as sustainable as the local economy continues to be strong and our employments rates remain high.  New companies continue to relocate here bringing a continual stream of new home buyers.  Builders and developers are scrambling to keep up with the demand.

Some of the highlights for the month of May include: (all data compiled by the Houston Association of Realtors and is comparable to May 2011)

    • Total property sales increased 24.2%
 
    • Total dollar volume soared to 35.4%
 
    • Active listings dropped to 18.1%
 
    • Available months inventory dropped to 5.5 or -30.6%
 

Clearly the market is strong. We are seeing the days on market shrinking and experiencing multiple offer situations daily.  It is a good time to be in the Houston and The Woodlands area!
