Let's Be Good Neighbors

Those of us living in Gainesville and all of Alachua County fall into the Suwannee River Water Management DistrictThe Gainesville Sun ran an article on January 8th about how we are now all under "new water restrictions".

Suwannee River Water Management District covers portions of 15 counties in North Central Florida.  The district's Lawn Sprinklersgoverning board has voted to ban lawn watering between 7:00 am and 9:00PM.

Let's all be Good Neighbors!

If you have an automatic timer for your irrigation system, you can adjust your settings to comply with the new times.

If you are are on a private well, like I am - let's do our part too and abide by the restrictions.

Here are the new restrictions:

Residents living in homes with even-numbered addresses can water their lawns on even-numbered days of the month. Those residents who's house numbers are odd, may water on odd-numbered days.

And remember, we are also under a burning ban.  Let's do our part to conserve our lawn watering habits.  We don't want a horrible drought this spring and summer season.

UPDATE:  Thanks to a recent reader, he has advised me that the City of Gainesville and about half of Alachua County are in the St. John's River Water Management District not the Suwannee River Water Management District. SJRWMD already has mandatory water restriction rules in effect.

Christine -  following these restrictions now may avoid more stringent restrictions later. With too much of a drought the authorities could cut off any use.
