MEME by Ed Nailor

So thank you to Eleanor Thorne for slapping me with a MEME and bugging me to get it done! LOL I guess this means that at least one person wonders about who Ed Nailor is, and that is a good thing in my estimation.

So, in no particular order, here are 5 things you might not know about me...

"I Don't Wanna Work, I Just Wanna Bang on the Drums All Day"
That's right. I play the drums. Not professionally, more of a hobby. I have had the drummer bug since I was very young, but Mom and Dad never let me have drums for fear that I would make too much noise. (They were right!) So at 18, I began learning from a fellow church member how to play. I have been banging ever since. I don't have a set right now, so my steering wheel gets abused instead!

"On my honor, I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law, To help other people at all times, To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."
Yep, you guessed it... I was a Boy Scout. I grew up in the Scouts actually. My Dad became the Cub Scout Master in out small town and his friend was the Boy Scout Master. So I went through it all. The Boy Scouts teach a young boy a lot in life that carry on, especially in terms of honor and duty and putting others first. I made it to the rank of Life Scout (one away from Eagle) and was an inductee of the Order of the Arrow. We moved to NC before I achieved Eagle Scout and by that time I was a young teen and wanted to try and fit in with new surroundings... so Scouts got put on back burner.  I wish I had completed the Eagle Scout, but regardless, the lessons learned have shaped who I am today.

"On Christ the Solid Rock I stand"
Ok, so I admit that I should not have to tell you here that I am a Christian man, but many would not know. Not that I am living an immoral or totally self-indulgent life. But the reason you may not know is that I do not walk around in any sort of a "preachy" or "religious" manner. In other words, I do not push my thoughts or beliefs on others. I believe Jesus Christ came to earth, was sinless and died for our sins. I believe it is important to share this with others. At the same time, in today's world I also believe that it is too easy for people to walk around saying religious stuff and never reaching out to others. So instead of seeming religious or turning people off, I personally prefer to reach out to others and show Christ in that way, touching people where they need help. That is what Christ did after all.

"I do" 5 months later
So I am one of those rare examples of meeting someone online and marrying after only 5 months of knowing someone! My wife and I met online mid July of 2003 and were married December 23, 2003. We did not meet through any dating service. She actually said hello from a profile I had posted on MSN messenger and we started talking from there. We had both been married previously and just kinda knew what we wanted... and the rest is history. She brought a wonderful son into my life when we married, and since then we have had 2 others (a daughter and son, a year and 6 days apart!) for a total of 3 kids. Life has sure changed in the past 4 years! I am surprised I still have my hair or my sanity! LOL

Hot coffee and cold sweet tea please.
Ok, so I am a Southern Yankee. I was born in New Jersey (1973) and have been raised in the south since I was 2. Both my parents are from up north, so I have had a mixed up-bringing. I seemed to have picked up both northern and southern traits... I am direct, and still a gentleman. So I can politely tell you to kiss my ....! LOL. But in all seriousness, most people have no idea where I am from since I have no real accent. The good news is that with this upbringing I can really relate to almost anyone. I can be direct with those that need it, and soft and polite with those that need it. Either way, I am tactful and thoughtful in my approach to anyone I work with! Oh, and I NEED my tea to be sweet...

So there you have it... 5 things you may not have known about me. Now here is what you should know about me already...

Ed--WOW, I knew about the religion and the sweet tea--but, a boy scout drummer?!  And, FIVE months and ONLINE?!  You know, I knew the first time I saw my hubby that I had a 'thing' for him and thought that I'd probably marry him--so, I do believe in going with your gut!  150 days, huh?!  WOW!  That one's a shocker!!
