Pink Summer Blooms to Benefit Komen Breast Cancer Research

This extraordinary Byron Bay Rose Hibiscus is a hybrid that has been recently designated for raising funds and awareness for the Susan B Komen Breast Cancer Awareness and Research.

Plant For The Cure

Lowe's Companies through a program in their Garden Dept invites it's customers to  "Plant For The Cure" to help raise funds to fight breast cancer through research.  Through this "Plant for the Cure" program, Lowes is donating 10% of the sales of select flowering plants, guaranteeing  a minimum of $250,000.

This Byron Bay Rose Hibiscus  is one of the pink plants that are designated for the fund raising campaign. It was a win win for me to have this variety of Hibiscus that I have never seen before. I have several other Hibiscus plants in the gardens but I decided that this plant should be for a special pedestal pot on the patio.

The color is just extraordinary in hot pink and the shape of this hibiscus is somewhat different from the other varieties I have seen.

Hi Roy, Thank you so much for this re-post. I am within days of getting my second bloom to open and I think I am going to re-shoot this with my telephoto lens. I have a white boc ( actually black ) that I can set up and perhaps take the bloom off the plant. I have seen many hibiscus but this bllom shape was so different with the tight overlap of the petals. Because this flower was fully opened when I photographed, the beautiful lacy effect is somewhat less apparent in the flat 2D shot.
