South Suburban Golf Courses - The South Suburban Parks and Recreation District includes four very different and unique courses in south metro Denver and now they have added night golf to three of the four courses. Thats right, you can now play golf on Littleton Golf and Tennis, Family Sports and South Suburban Golf Courses after the sun sets.

A shotgun start sets everyone in motion and the gun goes off at 9:00 PM on Saturday nights at Family Sports, Friday nights at Littleton Golf and Tennis and South Suburban. You must play with a Glow Ball (available at the course for $5)

Another great way to get that South Suburban Parks and Recreation gets the younger generation involved in this great game is by offering free golf to everyone under the age of 17 on weekends. Yep, you heard me right, 17 years of age and younger get to play free golf on the weekends after 5 PM on South Suburban, Family Sports and Littleton Golf and Tennis, and after 6PM on Lone Tree Golf Course. What a great thing for the kids to be doing instead of just hanging out looking for something to do.

The four courses in South Suburban rec district are also very unique;

Family Sports is just what it sounds like, a place for the entire family. The course itself is a 9-hole executive and features one of the best practice facilities in the Rocky Mountains, a two tiered, lighted, heated year round driving range, two practice greens for grass and sand bunker practice, a full practice green, a miniature golf course and an indoor range (which doubles as The Denver Broncos NFL franchise practice facility during inclement weather). Family Sports also features two ice rinks, one of which is the practice facility for The Colorado Avalanche NHL hockey franchise, and indoor fun center with active games for young and old and The Avalanche Grill that sits above one of the rinks to watch a game while you eat.

The Littleton Golf and Tennis Club features an 18 hole executive course with some of the most challenging holes I have seen on an executive track, the front 9 winds its way through a community of townhomes and the much newer back 9 follows the South Platte River and backs up against some luxury homes. The club is also very well known for it's year round covered tennis programs.

South Suburban Golf course has often been awarded the most played course in Colorado and its incredibly fast greens definitely add some challenge to a seemingly moderate muni course. The greens are not only slick but very undulating, I have seen many nice regulation approaches quickly turn into doubles and triples.

The Lone Tree Golf Course was acquired by South Suburban Parks and Rec several years ago, it used to be a private Country Club and hotel, a real destination course for business travelers that were meeting in the Denver Tech Center just a mile away. This course has some of the most spectacular views in Denver, from the 14th tee box you can see over the top of the downtown Denver Skyscrapers to the mountains i=on the other side, this could be one of the highest points in the metro Denver area. Lone Tree winds its way through luxury homes and townhomes and is also home to many of Denver's professional athletes because of its privacy and proximity to the teams training facilities.

David, its like the Colorado 5th graders progaram where kids ski for free, 5th grade only and then a graduate pass in 6th grade for only $50, it gets the kids hooked on a good thing at an early age so then they can convince mom and dad to take them regularly. What a marketing program. We need to do this in real estate.

Inna - Family Sports has made their course even more family friendly, on every green they have added a second much bigger hole so that the newer golfers do not get frustrated with their putting, which is one of the reasons newbies find themselves with suvh high scores.

I understand several family friendly courses around the country are springing up, I have even seen some local courses offer a "6-Hole" round for those that just do not have the time for more golf.

What I love about this is that the newbies now have a place to play and they do not feel like they are holding up people on the full size courses, whenb they are ready thay can make the move.
