Not long ago I came into my office one morning and flipped on a light switch, but nothing happened. Not good. Next room flipped the light switch... okay better. I had my husband come and replace a bulb in the fixture that didn't come on and still nothing. So that's when I got on the phone and called a friend who had just hired someone to do some electrical work for her. A personal recommendation is SO much better than the yellow pages, don't you think? I think so. I hired Joey McNair of McNair Electric.
Well it just so happened that when I called him he was on his way out of town for a few days. But guess what he said, "do you want me to recommend someone else since I can't get there for a few days?" Now that's a stand up guy. Rather than me sitting in the dark, he was willing to help me find some of his competition who could come right away. I got a lamp and decided to wait. Anyone who would make that offer... I want on my team of vendors.
This morning when he was scheduled to be here he called in advance to check that the time was still good with me. He showed up early and he saved me money. I was all set to order a new light fixture. When I purchased two identical light fixtures five years ago they were stock items at the local lowe's department store. Today that same fixture is a special order item that takes weeks to arrive. I thought I had a two choices: 1. wait weeks while it was on order or 2. buy TWO next matching fixtures and pay him to put both of them up.
Who knew there was choice 3? Joey took my fixtures that I liked and transformed it. Now instead of having to buy $12.00 bulbs it takes a regular compact florecent light bulb and it looks just the same. He rewired my fixture. Instead of having to buy an entire new florescent fixture in a second room he simply replaced the part that needed replacing. In all the parts AND labor today were less than replacing the fixtures. I was impressed and frankly it's not easy to do that.
I have already sent him to my house to change out some fixtures there I wanted to replace and he is coming back to work on my outside lighted sign that needs some bulbs replaced and to be cleaned out. I'd hire him again and I certainly highly recommend him. And he chatted while he worked and I found out that he is also a volunteer firefighter as well. So my hat is off to him for that too.
So if you are in the Lake Sinclair area (Milledgeville, Eatonton, Sparta) call Joey McNair of McNair Electric for all your electrical needs. You can reach him at 478-454-8775.
And tell him Tammy sent you.
