10 Comments on Do you really Need to Be in a Business Network Group
Mike, very valid reasons for NOT being a part of BNI - apart from cost associated with it and time commitment.
During the same time, you may prospect your SOI or any other source that would give you quality leads.
Interesting... One of the reasons I didn't like the idea of this type of group is that you may not think the 1 or more folks in your group are worthy of a referral.. and there is a lot of pressure to make referrals.
Mike: Praful sent me and glad he did. That is so true. I've seen more people go to business association functions (and, of course, belong and pay good money for it) and when you ask them what kind of business they get from it, they hesitate to answer. Lots of agents just feel good in a group, have a feeling of belonging, have people to chat to. I'm not that kind of person. I like to go out there and stir things up myself. I want to do things my own way, try new things. Not that they aren't good people, but I just don't have the time.
People get out what they put in 99% of the time in business and if not, they must adapt to changes.
It's the people that you personally know which are the best people to refer you. They're the ones that already know and trust you... However, unless you're already overwhelmed with business, more referrals couldn't hurt...
