Do you really Need to Be in a Business Network Group

Reblogger Praful Thakkar
Real Estate Agent with LAER Realty Partners

i am sure it's been considered a privilege to be a part of BNI group. One Real Estate Agent/Broker vacancy will have at least 10 applications (that's what happened to one of our local BNI chapter.)

I was lucky NOT to get selected for this.

Well, that's just my opinion.

What's your take? What do you think?

Do you really Need to Be in a Business Network Group

One of my fellow agents asked the following questions by email:

""Hey Mike,

do you think business networking groups work?

Thanks!

I replied her back with this email:

I was with BNI for a year and a half… got leads.. etc  but it takes a lot of time .

If you spend the same time prospecting your own sphere or online you will do more…for sure.

Here is why I quit BNI abruptly

I was talking to a RE manager and told him I am in a BNI group. He asked me why?

I said to build relationships so I can get referrals.

He said Cool!

Then he asked me how many people I know   friends family etc.. that would or could give me referrals or biz if I asked them

I said 100-150

Then he asked me.. how many time do you ask them for referrals or meet…

I said I don’t have time for them all , I ask them here and there..

So he said… If you have 100-150 people you know and you do not have time for them, why do you want to make that group to 200????

SO I quit…and am glad I did.

I have more time now."""

Bottom line is: If you have enough of a sphere, you do not need to network for new sphere... work you sphere.."

Cheers.
